In the white strip a plant is the national emblem: an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in one of his claws. The mexican flag was officially introduced in 1821, and, although the flag has changed moderately over time the new flag of Mexico is almost exactly the same as when it was created, almost 200 years ago.

Interestingly, while people think that the mexican flag is simply the Italian tricolor with the national coat of arms of Mexico superimposed, the mexican flag was designed in reality before the Italian flag. What is more, the mexican flag uses darker shades of green and red, and also have different dimensions.

The colors of the flag of Mexico also have a historical origin. In the early XIX century, when Mexico was fighting for its independence from Spain, formed an army of a coalition of Spanish troops and the rebels, the Army Trigarante.

To represent this army used a flag that incorporated the colours red, white and green. This flag was used until the end of the war. Preserve these colors in the flag of today is a way to remember the struggle for independence, as well as to remember the mexican population is the foundations on which this country was created.

The mexican flag is a very important symbol to all mexicans which is exemplified on the Day of the Flag; a day dedicated to the celebration of the flag where every mexican swear loyalty to the flag of Mexico and to the country.

Note that according to mexican law, the flag is protected and you need special permission to reproduce his image.

<ins class="adsbygoogle abajoresp"
     style="display:inline-block"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-8806496717135445"
     data-ad-slot="9308676720"</ins>

The mexican flag is an object of great national pride in Mexico.
